A Balinese Cultural Center at AYANA Estate
The SAKA Museum is a cultural gem located in the AYANA Estate in Jimbaran, Bali, Indonesia. Opening to the public in early 2024, SAKA will take visitors to embark on a captivating exploration of the Balinese Day of Silence, Nyepi, and a myriad of art and cultural expressions deeply intertwined with the profound Balinese principle of Tri Hita Karana.
Tri Hita Karana is a Balinese philosophy that emphasizes harmony and balance between the three realms of life: God, nature, and humanity. This philosophy is reflected in all aspects of Balinese culture, from their art and architecture to their religious practices and everyday lives.
Named after the Balinese Saka calendar, the museum is a beautiful tribute to Bali's rich past, vibrant present, and promising future. On Nyepi Day, all Balinese Hindus must stay in their homes and refrain from all work, travel, and entertainment. The island is completely silent, and even the airport is closed. This day of silence is a powerful reminder of the importance of inner peace and harmony.
The SAKA Museum features a variety of exhibits that bring the story of Nyepi and Balinese culture to life. Visitors can learn about the different rituals and traditions associated with Nyepi, as well as the deeper meaning of this important holiday.
